Rescue Addiction
Rescue Addiction

“My goal with ‘Rescue Addiction’ is to bring to light the deepest, darkest truth of how addiction can rip people apart and eventually lead them to despair and suicide if there is no intervention. ‘Rescue Addiction’ brings the viewer behind the scenes to see the ugliness of what addiction is, how it destroys people and families and takes them to a place where what is most important to them leads them away from whom and what they love, toward tragedy, trauma and death.”                        -Jermaine Williams

Featured Family of Episodes 1 & 2 of "Rescue Addiction"

There has been a great deal of publicity and compassion around the opioid epidemic affecting suburban white America, but little empathy has been shown to the black community, which is losing children and parents to addiction on a daily basis. Treatment resources are limited in communities of color, while the stigma is at an all time high.

Man of The People: The Final Hours of Willie Junior

Murder - the unlawfully act to kill another person, with malice intention.

Assassinate - to kill a public figure with intent to silence their voice, or end their cause.

People are murdered everyday in Pensacola, but Willie Jr. was assassinated.

Allegedly

Willie Junior, a trailblazer in Pensacola's African American community, rose to prominence as the founder of Junior Funeral Home and the first black member of the Escambia County Commission since the Reconstruction era. His rise, however, was marred by scandal when he was implicated in a corruption case involving a local soccer complex, which led to his removal from office and eventual conviction. But just as the community braced for his court sentencing, Junior vanished.

A month later, his body was discovered beneath the home of a former employer, with authorities ruling his death a suicide. Yet, questions linger. How did a man of such stature end up in such a grim and suspicious location? Why do so many believe there was more to his death than meets the eye?

In this riveting documentary, Jermaine J. Williams dives deep into the life, legacy, and mysterious death of Willie Junior, unraveling the layers of controversy, political intrigue, and unanswered questions that still haunt Pensacola. Through interviews with community members, legal experts, and those close to the case, the film explores whether Willie Junior’s death was truly a suicide or if foul play was involved, painting a vivid portrait of a man who fought for his community but may have been silenced by forces beyond his control.
